Light Snow, Big Traffic Headaches Forecasted for Tuesday’s Rush Hour
The National Weather Service is calling for an inch or two of the white stuff tonight and tomorrow morning and temperatures more accustomed to January the rest of the week.
It might be wise to get out and enjoy today’s pleasant weather, as the weather is expected to head in a more wintery direction starting tonight.
The National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for Monday night and Tuesday morning, when Lakeville and the rest of the Twin Cities metropolitan area are expected to receive an inch or two of snow. Also, colder temperatures are in the forecast.
That's quite a difference than Monday afternoon's weather conditions. At 12:30, the weather observation station at was reporting clear and sunny skies and a temperature of a balming-for-January 28 degrees.

While the forecasted accumulations should be on the light side, the timing might not be the best. There could be snow falling during Tuesday morning’s rush hour.
Paul Douglas, in his weather blog on Star Tribune.com, is warning that roads could be hazardous Tuesday morning.

“With temperatures near 10 [degrees], black ice is a real possibility,” he writes in Monday’s blog. “Morning rush hour Tuesday may be a mess.”
After the snow leaves Tuesday morning, temperatures more accustomed to Minnesota in January are expected to arrive, the weather service says. High temperatures this week are expected to be 12 on Tuesday, 18 on Wednesday, 6 on Thursday and 19 on Friday.
As far as low temperatures go, Douglas says there is a chance the Twin Cities could see its first below-zero readings of the winter later this week.
