A Slick and Slippery Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for Lakeville and the rest of the Twin Cities metro area.

Drivers in Lakeville and elsewhere in the Twin Cities could face challenging road conditions beginning this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory through midnight for eastern Minnesota, including Lakeville and the rest of the Twin Cities, and Western Wisconsin.

The advisory says that freezing drizzle will develop before noon, then periods of freezing rain will occur this afternoon. A layer of ice could form on roads and sidewalks.

Precipitation then is expected to change to snow this evening and accumulate one or two inches by Monday morning.

Today's high is expected to be near freezing.

At 10:06 a.m. Sunday, the temperature the weather monitoring station at was 19 degrees.

In addition to the freezing rain advisory, Lakeville and the Twin Cities also are under a hazardous weather advisory.

Lakeville has seen its share of weather advisories this past week, with several issued for snow and bitter cold temperatures.

That probably won’t be the case for the coming week, though. After snow moves out on Monday, calm weather is expected for the rest of the week.
