ORIGINAL STORY: Fans of one Facebook page want to bring “Two Buck Chuck” to the South Metro.

The “Bring Trader Joe’s South of the River Twin Cities” page is promoting the idea of the California-based specialty food retailer opening a store south of the river.

Trader Joe’s is known for selling the inexpensive Charles Shaw brand of wines, nicknamed Two Buck Chuck, as well as natural and gluten-free foods.

The closest Trader Joe’s to Lakeville is in Bloomington. Other Twin Cities stores are in St. Paul, St. Louis Park and Minnetonka.

The Trader Joe’s page, which had 82 likes as of Wednesday, was established last July. The page had been dormant for several months until Tuesday, when the following message was posted:

If you live in the South Metro, give us a "share" so we can get more likes! Rumor has it that TJ's is scouting locations in the Twin Cities again!

Then, the following message was posted on the Lakeville Patch Facebook page:

We're trying to get Trader Joe's attention and help bring a location to the South Metro. Feel free to join and share with other south metro friends! I know Lakeville is probably not an option due to the municipal liquor store issue, but if you'd like a location nearby (Apple Valley, Burnsville, Savage?) please consider joining. It could turn into nothing, if not some [camaraderie] among Trader Joe's fans, but it's worth a shot.

That was followed by this message:

If you have a suggestion for a new location, let Trader Joe's know on their location request form! I just suggested the former Ultimate Electronics location on Burnhaven Dr in Burnsville (across from Burnsville Center and next to the library). =)

What are your thoughts about Trader Joe’s possibly opening south of the river. Let us know in the comments section below.
