Lakeville Area Arts Center Delivers Christmas, With a Dose of Spunk

Junie B. Jones makes her theatrical debut in Lakeville next weekend.

Fans of holiday highjinks and important life lessons are in luck!

This holiday season, The Play’s the Thing Productions will bring a contemporary children’s classic to life with their upcoming production of Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, which opens Dec. 16 at the .

The play follows beloved fictional first-grader Junie B. Jones as she grapples with whether to give or to be selfish when participating in her school’s secret santa program.

“It’s a wonderful lesson about the spirit of giving,” said Dayna Railton, the show’s director. “This is a great opportunity for families to come out and see live theater.”

This is the second time Junie B. has been produced in Minnesota. The cast consists of 15 young actors between ages eight and 14.

“Everyone gathers together and has a fun time,” said Dayna’s daughter, Madison Railton, who is a sixth grader and a member of the cast. 

Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells runs from Dec. 16-30, with performances at 7:30 p.m., 1 p.m. and 10 a.m. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $9 for groups.
