What's Open and Closed on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is Monday, May, 27.

Most importantly, Memorial Day is a day to honor our fallen heroes.

It's also the unofficial start of summer.

Because Memorial Day is a federal holiday recognized by the state of Minnesota, Lakeville city government—Lakeville City Hall and Lakeville Liquors—and the Heritage Libary will closed.

The United States Post Office and Lakeville Public Schools are also closed Monday.

Many private businesses are traditionally closed on Memorial Day, so be sure to check our business listings to get their phone number and call before you head out.

HOLIDAY OBSERVANCES

VFW Post 210 of Lakeville and American Legion Post 44 will present their annual Memorial Day color guard visits at 12 area cemeteries to honor the military service members buried there. The tour of ceremonies will run from around 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The stops on the route will each include a brief presentation, the Color Guard, and the Lakeville North High School band.

Here is a schedule of the stops:

  • 8 a.m.: Orchard Lake (Evergreen Point) Cemetery, County Road 5 & County Road 46
  • 8:25 a.m.: West Christiana Lutheran Cemetery, 245th Street & Pillsbury Avenue
  • 8:50 a.m.: Church of St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Elko New Market
  • 9:15 a.m.: St. John Farmington Lutheran Cemetery, Webster
  • 9:35 a.m.: Solor Lutheran Cemetery, Webster
  • 10 a.m.: Annunciation Catholic Cemetery, Hazelwood
  • 10:20 a.m.: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hazelwood
  • 10:45 a.m.: East Christiana Cemetery, Highview Avenue & 267th Street
  • 11 a.m.: Highview Christiana Lutheran Cemetery, 26690 Highview Ave.
  • 11:25 a.m.: Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, west of Cedar Avenue and north of 225th Street
  • 11:45 a.m.: All Saints Catholic Cemetery, south of downtown Lakeville on 210th Street
  • Noon: Lakeville Grove Cemetery, 8505 205th St. W.

Afterward, there will be a brief program at the Lakeville Veterans Memorial at Aronson Park starting around 12:30 p.m.

Similar Memorial Day ceremonies have been performed in Lakeville for more than 50 years.
