Video: Lakeville Hosts Sucessful Ironman Bike Ride
Over 3,500 bikers battle freezing temperatures at the 45th annual event
High winds and chilly temperatures didn't deter more than 3,500 bicycle enthusiasts from riding Sunday in the 45th annual Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride.

The event, which started and finished at Lakeville North High School, offered four distance options. A new 17 mile route was added this year to the longer 30, 68 and 100 milers. Also new was the Minnesota Gran Fondo, a timed bike event.

Over 300 volunteers were on hand as participants were able to view sponsor displays and enjoy food and beverages before heading out into the unseasonably cold temperatures.
"Its been around since '67...started by Lake Calhoun," said Susan Willis of the Ironman staff. "Its been in Lakeville for 13 years, I think. Lakeville seems to like us and we're glad to be here."
