UPDATE: Snowmageddon on Hold? Winter Storm to be Mostly Rain

Nearly 20 inches of snow will fall north of the Twin Cities, but in Lakeville, 1-4 inches of sloppy, wet snow will fall with periods of heavy rain mixed in.

The snow has begun to fall in Lakeville, but don't get used to it. Soon, the snow will be changing over to sleet and eventually rain throughout the day and evening.

And while the Twin Cities may not get a lot of snow, we could get a lot of rain, and that could cause minor flooding issues as the ground is still frozen.

Forecasters are suggesting the drive home shouldn't be too bad, but tomorrow morning's commute could be chaos.

ORIGINAL STORY From Feb. 27

A little wobble in the track of a snow storm heading toward the Twin Cities could mean the difference between 3 inches or 20 inches of snow in Lakeville.

Yeah, you read that right: a major snow storm is on its way, scheduled to arrive midday Tuesday, but forecasters are having a difficult time pegging just where the heavy snow band will fall.

Tentatively speaking, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Lakeville, and the southern two thirds of the state. The forecast as it stands 24 hours before the flakes start to fall: 6-12 inches for the Twin Cities, with far more—up to 20 inches—for central Minnesota and St. Cloud, and far less—just an inch or two—for Albert Lea.

If the storm shifts just 50 or 60 miles, Lakeville could get hammered, or could get nothing more than a nuisance snowfall.
