Senator Klobuchar has advocated for domestic abuse awareness and prevention throughout her career, according to a press release. In 2009, she introduced a bipartisan resolution against domestic violence, calling for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. Klobuchar introduced the Stalkers Act of 2011, which would strengthen and update federal anti-stalking laws to address the new technology predators are using to harass their victims. Language similar to this bipartisan legislation was later included in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act which should be voted on in 2012.

Old cell phones will also be collected at the event with proceeds also going to the Lewis House.
