Patch Picks: Labor Day (And Every Day) Heroes

Who is your favorite worker? Show them your appreciation and tell us who they are.

For most, Labor Day is the last hurrah of summer, an extra day off from work as a reward for their efforts. But for many, it’s another day of work servicing the needs of community members and visitors as they enjoy their paid holiday.

Lakeville Patch wants to recognize all workers this Labor Day, especially the ones that work on Labor Day, other holidays, nights, weekends and other times when most people are “off” to help keep Lakeville functioning.

Do you have a favorite smiling face that helps make your day easier? Recognize them here with a thanks for all they do.

Do you know a Lakeville police officer or firefighter that has responded to a neighbor in need?

Who always answers your questions as and helps you find exactly what you need?

Who’s your favorite instructor at the gym? Who keeps it clean?

These are just a few ideas of some unsung heroes of everyday life that deserve thanks for working to make our days brighter, more enjoyable, safer and/or better in some way. Sometimes it’s just a smile, or knowing what we like. Other times it’s a friendly chat. Often times, it’s an unnoticed act (such as cleaning the gym).

This Labor Day, show your appreciation to the workers you encounter wherever you’re out and about. Better yet, thank some of your favorites in the comments section below and let everyone know who you appreciate and why.

It doesn’t have to be limited to those working on Labor Day. Who picks up your garbage? Who’s your favorite bank teller? Who delivers your mail? Who mows your lawn or keeps your car running in top shape? Is there a librarian that helped you find just the right book? Is there a special teacher that has made a difference?

Let them know their work is appreciated, too. On Labor Day, and every day.
