Patch Picks: All-American Fourth of July Recipes

Everything you need for a complete Fourth of July cookout.

Summer is finally cooperating with our outdoor plans and just in time for the Fourth of July. Whether you’re entertaining at home, gathering in the park, or heading to the lake, here’s some All-American recipes for a complete Fourth of July gathering that can help you celebrate.

Juicy Lucy – Maybe it’s not a true American classic, but around these parts it’s certainly become a Minnesota classic. And they go pretty well with Fourth of July grill-out, too. Whether you want to call it a ‘Jucy’ or a ‘Juicy’ shouldn’t matter and the debate over whose is best or who had them first can be set aside in the interest of holiday togetherness. This Minneapolis/Minnesota classic from the 5-8 Club is sure to be a winner.

All-American Potato Salad The Juicy Lucy may be local, but potato salad is as All-American as they come. This solid basic recipe can be tweaked to your liking. For best flavor, make it a day in advance and let all the flavors chill out in the fridge and get to know each other overnight. It will make for that much more of a friendlier time around the picnic table.
