Openings Continue on I-35

More lanes are opening on I-35, but drivers should watch for temporary lane closures in the area through November.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that both directions of traffic on Interstate 35 will soon move to their respective sides of the road.

Traffic on Interstate 35 between County Road 70 and County Road 2 will be on their own side of the road by Monday, Nov. 4, weather permitting. The traffic switch has already occurred between County Road 70 and County Road 50.

Temporary, non-peak lane closures will occur through November, according to MnDOT.

Upcoming Closures:

The County Road 46 ramp to northbound Interstate 35 will close at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The ramp will reopen by by Sunday at 12:01 a.m., said MnDOT.

Interstate 35E between the Burnsville split and Cliff Road will see lane closures starting Monday, Nov. 4. The closures are needed while crews pave the shoulders.

MnDOT does not plan to reduce lanes between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on northbound I-35E and between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on southbound I-35E.
