Lakeville Briefs: Senior Fraud/Identity Theft Prevention Workshop is Saturday

Also, the city's athletic fields are opening for the season.

Editor’s Note: The following information is from the City of Lakeville website. 

The Lakeville Police Department will host a senior fraud/identity theft prevention workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the CLC Room at Hosanna Church, 9600 163rd St. W.

This educational program includes information on identity theft, telemarketing fraud, caregiver fraud, and other methods of exploitation. It will also provide critical information related to the various methods of financial exploitation and simple strategies to avoid becoming a victim.

Presenters will be Honorable Judge Michael Fahey, First Judicial District; Information Security Specialist Kelley Archer, Hennepin County Medical Center; and Officer Kevin O'Neill, Lakeville Police Crime Prevention Unit.

ATHLETIC FIELDS OPENING FOR SEASON
All baseball and softball fields are open for regular play. Soccer and lacrosse fields [opened] for regular play on May 7.

EXCLUDING: Aronson soccer fields [as of May 6]: the soccer fields at Aronson are too wet to open . Park Maintenance will open these fields when they are acceptable for regular play.

HOME SECURITY AND CRIME PREVENTION WORKSHOP IS MAY 13
The Lakeville Police Department will host a home security and crime prevention workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at Lakeville City Hall, 20195 Holyoke Ave.

This program will highlight ways that residents can better secure their home, garage, and cars and how to help prevent burglaries. Topics will include locks, lighting, alarms, and spotting/reporting suspicious activity. Several local vendors from alarm and security companies will also be in attendance to answer questions and show the latest technology for being safe and secure.

Presenter will be Officer Kevin O'Neill, Lakeville Police Crime Prevention Unit.

POLICE/SHERIFF’S OFFICE OPEN HOUSE IS MAY 18
The public is invited to attend the second annual Lakeville Police/Dakota County Sheriff’s Office open house, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at the Lakeville Police Department, 9237 183rd St.

This open house is held jointly with the Dakota County Sheriff's Office in honor of National Police Week. Residents are welcome to visit and take tours of the station, meet police officers and Sheriff's deputies, and see displays from our partners in public safety, including Sheriff’s Water Patrol, Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, SWAT units, Minnesota State Patrol troopers, Minnesota State Patrol helicopter, Allina EMS ambulance, Police K-9 unit and McGruff the Crime Dog.

Free CPR classes will be offered throughout the day.
