Boy Who Lost Feet to Train Reminds Lakeville of Empty Railcars

Kids playing on Progressive Rail cars is 'very scary,' particularly after St. Paul incident, one neighbor told the Star Tribune.

A recent incident in which a boy's feet were severed by a train he was playing near in St. Paul has focused attention in Lakeville on Progressive Rail's empty rail cars, the Star Tribune reported

"We see a lot of kids playing around and climbing on top of the trains,” neighbor Pam Steinhagen told the newspaper.

Lakeville's situation drew the attention of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. John Kline last year, but little has changed, according to City Administrator Steve Mielke.
