Appetizers: Try the samosas (seasoned potatoes and peas wrapped in a flaky pastry ($4) or go for the mixed platter which offers a combination of samosas, shrimp, chicken, vegetable and paneer pakoras (dipped in chickpea batter and deep fried) and pappadum (thin lentil wafers served with chutneys) for $10.

Entrees: The menu offers an extensive list of traditional Indian favorites as well as a few home-grown dishes. There are plenty of vegetarian options with prices ranging from $9-13;  great Tandoori-roasted entrees from chicken ($11) to scallops ($16) to a rack of lamb ($20); and a wide selection of biryanis (slow cooked rice infused with flavorings) from $13-$18.

It's important to note that, contrary to popular belief, Indian food is not automatically spicy hot, but is wonderfully aromatic and flavorful and the heat can be turned up as desired.

Sides: One word – Naan. Any Indian meal is incomplete without this soft flat bread and Chapati offers several varieties including two that are stuffed ($3-5).

Desserts: You can’t go wrong with the Kheer ($4), a traditional Indian rice pudding with raisins and pistachios.

Service: The chefs at Chapati cook each dish to order and take the time necessary to ensure each meal is perfectly seasoned; the results definitely will be worth the wait.

Signature Dish: There is a separate section on the menu that offers nine Chef’s Specials. Those who are new to Indian cuisine will enjoy the subtle flavors of Chicken Tikka or Beef Masala ($14), which features aromatic tandoori-roasted meat in a tomato-based  sauce.
