Birthday: Lakeville Patch Marks Second Year Covering Community

Holy ... my gosh ... who-da thunk it? ... Really? Two years?

Today marks the two-year anniversary of Lakeville Patch. That means you actually may have seen our one-year anniversary post (yeah, probably not).

Yes—we've managed to stick around for two whole years. Most importantly, I've managed to stick around for two years at the helm here. That says something since I had spent the previous five years covering Lakeville for the cross-town paper. So you're not sick of me. That's saying something.

(Some nostalgia: to the right, check out that wicked-cool video of your editor, Derrick, from a story posted exactly two years ago. Hilarious.)

As I said last year on this day, I've never been a fan of tooting my own horn, or that of Patch. When we do a good job, which I think we do often, I think you, as readers, notice. I don't need to tell you about it.

That said, celebrating a two-year anniversary ... toot, Toot, TOOT!

In just a couple years Patch has gained a readership foothold in Lakeville. We break news early and often, cover news in ways previously unexplored and unavailable, and give you and your neighbors a chance to interact with one another as if Patch were a virtual water-cooler.

We cover the whacky, the serious, the fun, the highs, the lows ... and everyone in the city has been very supportive of what we’re trying to do here: become the hub for news and information about Lakeville.

For a second year, with the Christmas holiday looming, I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you—the Patch community—for your support.

Judging by your visits—which are numerous and repetitive—you like us, you really like us.

If you see me around town, stop me and say hello. Many of you do already. I love interacting with folks and hearing about what’s new in the world and around town. And don’t be shy about calling or emailing, either.

Finally, tell your friends and neighbors about Patch—the more connected we are, the better and richer and more varied the site will become. From posting your events and announcements—everything from garage sales and birth notices—to posting photos of your kid's little league team, your community cares, and so do we. It's why we're here.

As we move into 2013 and year three of Lakeville Patch, let’s build on our successes. And once more: thanks Lakeville.
