What Does the Lakeville License Center Offer?

At City Hall, some of the questions we get asked most often are about the Dakota County License Center in Lakeville: Where is it located and what licenses are available there? So, we wanted to provide the answers for everyone in a new feature we call Could you tell me...

Dakota County License, Lakeville office: 20085 Heritage Dr., in the Heritage Library building. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday –Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday [Phone number] 952-891-7878.

What you CAN get :

Find out what's happening in Lakevillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

• Birth Certificates—Both certified and non-certified birth certificates are

available at the Lakeville License Center.

• Death Certificates —Both certified and non-certified death certificates are

available at the Lakeville License Center.

• Driver’s Licenses renewals or duplicates. Renewals require a vision test and having a photo  taken.

• Vehicle registration—Transferring vehicle, trailer, and mobile home titles from sellers to buyers, and renewing license tabs.

• Game & Fishing License—Most hunting and fishing licenses and stamps go on

sale in mid-February.

• Recreational Vehicle Licenses—Including boat, ATV, and snowmobile.

What you CANNOT get:

• Marriage License—These are available at the Administration Center in  Hastings and the Western Service Center in Apple Valley.

• Passport—Passports are no longer available at the Lakeville Center. You must go the Administration Center in Hastings or the Western Service Center in Apple Valley to get a passport.

• Gun Licenses—The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office processes all applications for permits to carry firearms.

• Building Permits—Building permits must be obtained through the City Building Inspections Department, 952-985-4451.

Payment options

At the Lakeville License Center, cash, check, money orders, and credit or debit cards (Discover or MasterCard) are now accepted.
