UPDATE: I-35 Lane Closures Planned This Week

Here is an update on high-profile road construction projects impacting Lakeville and its residents.

UPDATE SUNDAY, JULY 28: Here is information from the Minnesota Department of Transportation about Interstate 35 lane closures that were scheduled to begin Sunday:

Heads-up - lane closures are expected daily, July 28 through July 31 as crews begin work on the I-35 resurfacing project.
The right lane will close between the I-35/35W/35E split each day at 8 p.m. and will be open during rush hour by 3 p.m. the following day. All work is weather permitting and could change for inclement weather.

Interstate 35/35E/35W

I-35 north and southbound
• Work on the I-35 portion between Elko/New Market and the Burnsville Split is scheduled to begin July 29. The long-term head to head traffic switch is tentatively scheduled to begin on or around Aug. 26. Motorists will be reduced to a single lane north of Highway 50 on weekends prior to the Aug. 26 date.

I-35E north and southbound
• North and southbound I-35E reduced to a single lane in each direction July 7-25. Traffic travels head to head on the northbound side of the roadway between the I-35/35W/35E split and Cedar Avenue.
• North and southbound I-35E reduced to a single lane in each direction July 25-31. Traffic travels head to head on the southbound side of the roadway between Cedar Avenue and Diffley Road.

Cedar Avenue Access
• Northbound Ramps at Cedar Avenue closed through 31. Please follow posted detour.

McAndrews Road Bridge
• McAndrews Road Bridge spanning I-35E closed July 10-27. Please follow posted detour(PDF). The pedestrian detour is County Road 11, Evergreen Drive and Portland Avenue.
All businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project. No two adjacent intersections will be closed simultaneously.

DODD BOULEVARD AND HIGHVIEW AVENUE

Dodd Boulevard from 183rd Street to 175th Street and Highview Avenue from 1,100 feet south of Dodd to 175th Street will remain closed to traffic for several months. Traffic should follow the posted detour.

Dodd Boulevard will become a 4-lane divided roadway with a roundabout intersection at Dodd and Highview Avenue. The project also includes the reconstruction of Highview Avenue from approximately 1,100 feet south of Dodd to 175th Street.

• Grading the roadway.
• Storm sewer installation.

Highview Avenue
• Grading the roadway.

• Relocation of private utilities (phone, electric, etc.).
