Registration for Night to Unite Open on City of Lakeville Website

As in years past, all Lakeville neighborhoods are invited to join the Lakeville Police Department on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 for Minnesota's Night to Unite. Night to Unite encourages law enforcement and communities to strengthen neighborhoods by getting to know one another to keep communities safe and promote community partnerships. This is a chance for neighbors to turn on their lights, lock their doors, come together and strengthen their bonds.

Each neighborhood decides how they want to celebrate Night to Unite. Gatherings can be as elaborate or as simple as you like -- block parties, live music, dunk tanks, parades, kids’ games, potlucks, pizza parties, dessert buffets and cookouts. Overall, Night to Unite is an effective and fun way to get to know your neighbors and prevent crime.

Representatives from the Lakeville Police Department, Fire Department, and City Council will attempt to visit each registered party. Due to the large number of parties, we are unable to make specific commitments.

In addition, the City of Lakeville is encouraging parties to conduct a food shelf drive during Night to Unite to help restock low food shelf supplies. Block party participants are encouraged to establish a location to collect non-perishable food items or grocery store gift cards. Donations can be dropped off at your local food shelf.

To sign up to host a neighborhood Night to Unite block party and request a street closure residents can follow the link on the City of Lakeville website www.lakevillemn.gov

All registration is online.  The registration deadline is August 2, 2013.
