It’s Dakota County Fair Time

The fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 11, at the county fairgrounds in Farmington.

The Dakota County Fair, based in Farmington, opened Monday. It runs through Sunday, Aug. 11.

WHAT IS THE DAKOTA COUNTY FAIR: The annual fair offers a variety of entertainment, food vendors, animal and craft judging and exhibits. Also open during the fair is the Dakota City Heritage Village, which offers a look at life in a 1900-era rural village. Dakota City has 22 buildings, including a blacksmith shop, newspaper office, schoolhouse and millinery shop, representing the business and social center of a rural community.

WHEN: Monday, Aug 5, through Sunday, Aug. 11.

WHERE: The Dakota County Fairgrounds is at 4008 220th St. W., Farmington. Directions are available on the fair website.

ADMISSION: General admission is $5 for adults, $2 for juniors (ages 6 to 12) and seniors (ages 60 and over). Children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets are required for grandstand events and carnival rides.

PARKING FEE: Daily parking is $5. Weekly parking is $15.
