Lakeville Named No. 2 Best Place To Live in Minnesota

Movoto based the rankings off of seven criteria, including unemployment rate, graduation rate and cost of living.

Movoto has named Lakeville one of the top ten places to live in Minnesota.

Movoto is a real estate company with home listings and partner real estate agents. To develop rankings, Movoto started with 100 of the most populated cities in Minnesota and analyzed the following factors:

  • Unemployment rate
  • Cost of living
  • Crime rate
  • High school graduation rate
  • Median household income
  • Median home price
  • Median rent price

The cities in the top ten shared such common characteristics as low unemployment rate, low crime rates, and high median incomes.

Lakeville is number two on the list. According to the description on the site:

"With a high school graduation rate of 96 percent, Lakeville is one of the most educated cities in Minnesota, and certainly on our list. This city also has a cost of living of 108—and while this is still 4 percent higher than the state average, it is a vast improvement from, say, Edina where the cost of living is 118."

Number one on the list was Chanhassen while Plymouth and Maple Grove tied at number three.
