Before I get started on all the "hard core" Vikings info, I would just like to share a little something about my experience as a Vikings fan. I am 15, live in Lakeville, and am avid Vikings fan. I go to most home games with my dad who owns season tickets. I follow the Vikings like a religion and will never root for the packers. I'm going to be posting about Vikings news and sharing my thoughts.
So let’s get started with the new Vikings acquisition: Donovan McNabb. I think everyone wants to know whether he is he the solution to our Quarterback problem.
(Yes it is a problem remember T Jack? There is a reason we let him go to Seattle.) In my opinion McNabb is not a solution to our long term problems. Depending on how he performs this year the best he can do is get us the wild card playoff spot. He isn't the caliber of Aaron Rodgers and doesn't have the receiving corps to win the division.
Don't get me wrong he is a great QB when it comes to instructing a young Christian Ponder, who the Vikes hope will be the long term QB solution. McNabb is a 1-2 year solution that other teams cannot take lightly. Don't anticipate early success from McNabb as he has to learn our system in a shorter training camp. We can only hope that he can figure it out on the fly, and if he isn't cutting it, Frazier will pull the string and put Ponder in.
To recap don't set your mind on early success from the Vikings this year. We can only also be cautiously optimistic about the playoffs this year. The next blog I post will be about the Vikings first pre-season game which airs on Kare 11 Saturday at 7:00 p.m. It's an away game at the Tennessee Titans. I also attahced a video of MacNabb highlights, that you can check out.
