Lakeville's HopeKids Winter Wonderland is Big Success

Lakeville businesses work together to have family fun at Brandtjen Farm.

The First Annual HopeKids Winter Wonderland brought out the families and served up the fun at Brandtjen Farm in Lakeville on Saturday, Jan. 15. 

"HopeKids is an organization that provides on-going events and activities for families that have a child with a life-threatening illness," said Josh Taylor, Executive Director of HopeKids Twin Cities chapter. "We believe that hope is a powerful medicine."

Tradition Companies, the company developing the Spirit of Brandtjen Farms neighborhood, hosted the event which included ice skating, hockey, sledding and a horse-drawn sleigh. Indoor activities in the Brandtjen Farm community center included shuffleboard, face-painting, video games and pool. Fireside Pizza of Rosemount donated pizza for the event.

"The Tradition Family Foundation is a big supporter of HopeKids," said Carole Griffith, vice president of sales for homes by Tradition. "Generally, we try to host 3 or 4 events throughout the year."

HopeKids was founded in Tucson, AZ, and opened their Lakeville chapter in 2006 to the serve the Twin Cities area.  Other chapters are in Salt Lake City, Utah and Dallas, Texas. For more information on HopeKids and their event schedule go to their website at www.HopeKids.org
