NFL Star Helps HopeKids Fundraiser in Lakeville Surpass Goals
Former Gophers Eric Decker and Adam Weber highlight Lakeville organization's third annual family event.
The third Annual HopeKids Suburban Walk and Run at Brandtjen Farm on Saturday proved to be a huge success again this year. A wide variety of family-oriented events included 5K and 10K runs, a kids' fun run, 5K walkathon, a dog agility demonstration and collector car show.
"This is the biggest HopeKids event we do this year," said Josh Taylor, executive director of HopeKids/Twin Cities. "This year our goal was $65,000 and we've flown through that. We're in excess of $70,000."
Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker and Adam Weber, the former University of Minnesota quarterback and leader in passing yards and touchdown passes, lead opposing teams in a kids' and Mascots touch football game. Sean Pollock of the Minnesota Swarm was also on hand for the festivities.
Tradition Companies, the company developing the Spirit of Brandtjen Farms neighborhood helped host the event.
