Will the real Lakeville South team please stand up? After finding the end zone seven times in a 49-14 defeat of Prior Lake on Sept. 7, the Cougars couldn't muster up a single point in a 13-0 loss at Edina last Friday night. This week, South remains on the road to take on an Apple Valley team that had its undefeated bubble burst last Friday with a 34-26 home loss to the Lakers.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
While the Cougars didn't cross into the end zone last week, we're figuring that senior running back Jordan Johnson, who had four touchdown scampers and 130 yards rushing versus Prior Lake, gets back on the board against the Eagles.
Senior running back Dom McDew-Stauffer had three rushing touchdowns versus Prior Lake last week, comprising the overwhelming bulk of what the Eagles put on the scoreboard.
WHO WILL WIN
We've been wrong here for two weeks running, having picked Prior Lake to win and the Cougars to beat Edina. Whoops. As much as we are tempted to take Apple Valley merely as an attempt to help out South, it's hard to ignore that Apple Valley lost by eight points to a team that the Cougars thumped by 35. Both teams will be 2-2 after Friday night as South takes this one.
