Bus Carrying 39 Lakeville Students Struck by SUV Near School Last Week

The Feb. 9 incident resulted in minor injuries to a couple students and the driver of the SUV.

A bus full of Lakeville middle school students was struck by an SUV as it pulled into the Century Middle School parking lot on the morning of Feb. 9.

Chief Thomas Vonhof said all 39 students were checked for minor injuries by paramedics and the school nurse, and only two complained of minor injuries. The driver of the SUV—who has not been named—suffered a superficial cut, but was not treated, Vonhof said.

The incident occurred just after 7 a.m. when the bus was making a left turn from southbound Ipava Avenue into the parking lot. An SUV traveling northbound struck the bus, Vonhof said.
